FAISALABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 18th Aug, 2026) Water & Sanitation Agency (WASA) Faisalabad has moved decisively against the employees involved in a violent clash between rival labor groups and suspended all regular employees found involved in addition to initiating proceedings against them under the Punjab Employees Efficiency, Discipline and Accountability (PEEDA) Act while terminating the services of all work-charge employees implicated in the incident.
WASA spokesman Qadeer Sikandar said that the action was taken on the orders of the competent authority following a clash between office-bearers and members of the Mazdoor Ittehad Union and WASA Employees Union at WASA Headquarters on Saturday.
He said that the administration has adopted zero-tolerance approach towards any attempt to disturb discipline, peace and order within the agency’s offices.
He said that all regular employees identified as having participated in the altercation have been placed under suspension with immediate effect while formal departmental proceedings have been initiated against them under the PEEDA Act.
At the same time, work-charge employees, found involved in the incident, have been dismissed from service with immediate effect, he added.
He said that WASA administration had earlier registered cases against both unions without discrimination after the altercation, making it clear that no employee or group would be allowed to take the law into its own hands or create a hostile environment at the agency’s headquarters.
He said that the competent authority reiterated that maintaining discipline, ensuring a peaceful working environment and protecting sanctity of the official workplace were top priorities of the WASA the administration.
Hence, strict and impartial action would be taken against anyone found responsible for disturbing law & order at WASA Headquarters, irrespective of their affiliation with any union or group, he added.
He said that the latest disciplinary action is being viewed as a strong message to the employees and union representatives that internal differences must be resolved through lawful and institutional channels rather than confrontation or violence.
WASA authority also directed that departmental rules and discipline must be observed strictly and no one would be permitted to exploit union affiliation as a shield against accountability, the spokesman added.
