Food Department Suspends Quotas, Licences Of 10 Flour Dealers In DIKhan


Dera Ismail Khan, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 20th Sep, 2026) The Food Department Dera Ismail Khan has intensified monitoring of government wheat flour supply and prices of essential food commodities in the district, taking action against 10 government flour dealers by suspending their official flour quotas and licences over reported violations, while Assistant Food Controllers conducted market inspections to check prices, availability and compliance with notified rates.

According to the Food Department, action against the 10 dealers was initiated on the basis of field monitoring and a report submitted by the focal person for government flour dealers. District Food Controller Muhammad Azam Khan ordered immediate action, following which the quotas and licences of the dealers were suspended and further proceedings were initiated against them.

The suspended dealers have been barred from lifting their daily government flour quota from their respective flour mills during the suspension period.

The department said the government flour quota would be distributed only through authorised and approved dealers in accordance with the prescribed standard operating procedures.

Government wheat flour is being supplied to consumers across Dera Ismail Khan through authorised dealers at the notified price of Rs2,520 for a 20-kilogram bag. The department is monitoring its availability, sale and distribution to ensure timely and transparent supply to the public.

As part of the ongoing monitoring drive, Assistant Food Controller (Headquarters) Maheen Shahid, on the instructions of the higher authorities, conducted inspections of different markets in Dera Ismail Khan to monitor the prices and availability of essential food commodities and ensure compliance with notified rates.

The inspection activities were also carried out by Assistant Food Controller (Headquarters) Khaliq Ur Rehman on the instructions of District Food Controller Muhammad Azam Khan. He visited different markets to monitor prices and availability of essential commodities and check implementation of official rates.

District Food Controller Muhammad Azam Khan said that effective monitoring of government flour dealers and markets was being carried out to ensure compliance with the prescribed rules and notified prices. He said no compromise would be made on the transparent distribution of government flour and warned that strict action would be taken against dealers found violating the Wheat Release SOPs-2026 or other applicable regulations.

He said the department would continue field inspections and monitoring to prevent overcharging, ensure availability of essential food commodities and facilitate the public through authorised channels.

The District Food Controller further urged authorised flour dealers to strictly follow the prescribed procedures and ensure that government flour reached consumers at the notified price.
