ISLAMABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 20th Sep, 2026) Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Sunday, departed Islamabad for New York, where he will accompany Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif from 21–25 September for the high-level week of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
The DPM/FM will have an extensive and wide-ranging programme during the high level week. He will attend the meeting of the OIC Contact Group on Jammu & Kashmir during which he will highlight Pakistan’s unwavering support for the right to self-determination of the Kashmiris, the Foreign Office Spokesperson said in a press release.
Dar will also attend several Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Ministerial meetings on the sidelines of the UNGA, including OIC Foreign Ministers’ Annual Coordination Meeting, as well as other OIC Contact Group meetings.
As a reflection of Pakistan’s strong support for the Palestinian cause, DPM/FM will attend several high level meetings on the issue of Palestine, including meeting of the Group of Eight Arab Islamic countries, as well as High-level Ministerial Meeting of the Global Alliance for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution among others.
The DPM/FM will deliver a statement during the UN Security Council high level briefing on the issue of Artificial Intelligence, in addition to attending the High-Level Meeting on Pandemic prevention, preparedness & response. He will also Chair the Meeting of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Council of Ministers.
The DPM/FM will hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts from several countries, in addition to accompanying the Prime Minister during high-level bilateral meetings and engagements.
“During his extensive engagements, he will highlight Pakistan’s ongoing efforts for regional and international peace and stability, and exchange views on important regional and international challenges,” it was added.
