The government has full authority to take all necessary legal measures to restore law and order and enforce the state’s writ during PTI’s long march, the Minister of State for Interior said.
ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 19th Sep, 2026) Federal Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry issued a stern warning over the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s proposed march on Islamabad, saying that September 27 would show how the state enforces its writ.
Speaking on a Geo news programme, he said the government had full authority to take all necessary legal measures to restore law and order and enforce the state’s writ during the proposed PTI march.
He said the government did not want to be forced to take severe measures or adopt a stance akin to “teaching them a lesson” when PTI returned to Islamabad.
Talal Chaudhry said that if anyone attempted to take the law into their own hands, it would become clear to everyone on September 27 how the state establishes its writ.
He said there would be no compromise on the security of the federal capital. He added that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister had consistently avoided attending the prime minister’s important quarterly meetings on counterterrorism, but immediately remembered the federal government when seeking an increased share in the NFC Award and funds from the Centre.
The Minister of State for Interior said the PTI government had so far been provided Rs700 billion under the NFC.
He said it was the provincial government’s responsibility to give a complete and transparent account of the funds. Instead of wasting time and resources on political sit-ins, protests and preparations for long marches, provincial rulers should focus on the proper use of the substantial funds received from the federal government and public welfare.
