Motorcycles registered after January 1, 2006, have also been included in the subsidy scheme, the Prime Minister’s Office said, citing public suggestions and feedback from across the country.
ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 19th Sep, 2026) On the directions of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, the scope of the Prime Minister’s Special Relief Scheme has been further expanded, with a new decision issued for motorcycle, Qingqi and rickshaw drivers buying small quantities of petrol.
According to details issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, motorcycle and rickshaw owners purchasing less than 5 litres of petrol will now receive an immediate weekly discount of Rs500 on the basis of a subsidy of Rs100 per litre.
The decision was taken in view of suggestions and feedback received from citizens across the country to provide relief to the poor and middle class without difficulty.
Under the decision, motorcycle and rickshaw drivers will be issued 1 token per week and a total of 4 tokens per month, enabling them to purchase smaller quantities of petrol according to their needs while still receiving the discount.
Meanwhile, the existing procedure for owners of vehicles up to 800cc will continue, under which they can receive a discount of Rs100 per litre on 10 litres of petrol every 10 days through 3 tokens for 10 litres each.
Previously, the Prime Minister had issued special instructions to include all motorcycles, rickshaws and Qingqi rickshaws registered after January 1, 2006, in the relief programme so that owners of 20-year-old vehicles could also benefit.
The relief scheme is open to all eligible citizens in the four provinces, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and the Federal capital. The government has also made all registration SMS messages sent to 9771 completely free to facilitate citizens.
