LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 19th Sep, 2026) Senior journalist and analyst Najam Sethi has criticised Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s political strategy and style of governance, advising her to think and make decisions according to her political standing.
Speaking on his programme, Najam Sethi said Maryam Nawaz should now learn politics because this is not an opposition period in which one can engage in daily bickering and verbal confrontations.
He said that if rivers of milk and honey were genuinely flowing in Punjab, people would not pay any attention to the government’s shortcomings or controversial issues.
He added that if Maryam Nawaz were as popular as PTI founder Imran Khan—so that people accepted whatever claim or statement she made without question—the situation would be entirely different.
However, he said the current situation was that people easily believed whatever anyone said about Maryam Nawaz, while everyone also said that she owed her position to Form 47. He therefore advised her to act while keeping her political reality and standing in mind.
Najam Sethi also urged Maryam Nawaz to undertake serious self-accountability while discussing criticism of the government by him and other journalists.
He said that journalists once considered extremely close to Maryam Safdar were now openly criticising her. Maryam Safdar should calmly reflect on why this had happened, he said. Were these journalists’ intentions already bad? And if their intentions had indeed been bad from the outset, why had Maryam Safdar selected them herself and brought them so close to her?
