Federal Government Removes 5-Litre Petrol Limit Under Relief Scheme


Motorcycles, Qingqis and rickshaws taking less than five litres of petrol will receive a weekly Rs500 discount, Federal Minister Shaza Fatima says.

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 19th Sep, 2026) The federal government has removed the five-litre petrol limit per token under the Petrol Relief Scheme.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Federal Minister for Information Technology Shaza Fatima said global oil prices had increased and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had launched a special relief programme for the public in the current situation.

She said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had announced that the registration message would be made completely free.

The five-litre petrol limit per token had been removed, and motorcycles, Qingqis and rickshaws taking less than five litres of petrol would receive a weekly Rs500 discount.

The federal minister said all motorcycles and Qingqis registered after Jan.

1, 2006, would be eligible for registration in the scheme. She said 91.6 percent of registrations in the scheme were for two- and three-wheelers, while vehicles up to 800cc accounted for 8.4 percent.

Shaza Fatima said 1,493,848 citizens had been issued fuel tokens under the scheme, while 655,067 citizens had received fuel so far.

She appealed to the public not to share their personal information with anyone to avoid fraud.
