LONDON, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 18th Sep, 2026) The son of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan, Qasim Khan, has responded to Defence Minister Khawaja Asif’s statement regarding Jewish identity, saying that people simply cannot stop making one mistake after another.
In a statement on social media platform X, Qasim Khan criticised Khawaja Asif’s position, saying that according to the logic he presented, his mother was not Jewish, nor were her parents Jewish.
He further said that the situation represented an astonishing level of stupidity for him and that the statement raised questions about Khawaja Asif’s position.
It is pertinent to note that Defence Minister Khawaja Asif had said regarding Jewish identity that, in mainstream Jewish tradition, identity is passed down through the mother, a principle known as matrilineal descent.
He said that if a person’s mother is Jewish, the person is considered Jewish, regardless of the father’s religion. Khawaja Asif further said that this principle is linked to the historical idea that a person’s maternal lineage was more certainly known in the past, whereas the paternal lineage could not always be verified and DNA testing was not available at the time.
