At a meeting chaired by Opposition Leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai, the opposition alliance decided to convene an all-parties conference to address the political and economic crises.
ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 18th Sep, 2026) The opposition alliance Tehreek Tahaffuz-e-Aain Pakistan has announced that it will participate in Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s long march on September 27.
According to the declaration issued after a meeting chaired by Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Mahmood Khan Achakzai, the alliance decided to convene an all-parties conference to address the political and economic crises.
The opposition alliance said the September 27 long march would be a peaceful, constitutional and democratic struggle, adding that the people’s right to rule would be restored through public power on that day.
The declaration called on all democratic political forces to unite on one platform to steer the country out of crisis, adding that responsibilities and committees had been formed to coordinate with other political parties.
The declaration said the meeting discussed the law and order situation in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as well as the proposed 28th Amendment and the creation of new provinces.
According to the opposition declaration, an unrepresentative government has no authority to break up provinces or divide them merely into administrative units, and such proposals would harm the federation, national unity and the Federal structure.
The declaration said provinces could not be deprived of their constitutional rights through a referendum or any other means, and the meeting particularly stressed maintaining Sindh’s existing geographical and administrative status.
The opposition alliance also demanded a direct meeting with former Prime Minister Imran Khan and the provision of accurate information about his health. According to the declaration, the meeting condemned raids on the homes of PTI workers, arrests and violations of the sanctity of the chadar and char diwari.
The opposition alliance condemned the treatment meted out during Sohail Afridi’s visit to Punjab. The declaration said the meeting agreed on the immediate restoration of border trade and rejection of the Mines and Minerals Act, while demanding that the relevant provinces and local populations be taken into confidence in decisions concerning natural resources.
Inflation, unemployment, increases in petrol prices and the law and order situation were included in the basic agenda of the September 27 protest, according to the declaration. The meeting reviewed domestic politics, the ongoing crisis in the middle East and its effects on Pakistan, while supporting an effective diplomatic and mediatory role for Pakistan to help end growing tensions in the region.
The declaration also condemned the re-arrest of Imaan Mazari and her husband after their release, and said Pakistan’s environment, agriculture and the Indus Delta faced serious threats.
