KOHAT, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 18th Sep, 2026) A suicide blast near the police lines in Kohat during Friday prayers killed 16 people, including police personnel, and injured dozens, police said.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police Zulfiqar Hameed told a private television channel that an explosives-laden vehicle rammed into the gate of the old police lines.
The vehicle exploded after the collision, followed by firing.
Another suicide blast took place at the Special Branch building during the firing.
According to the Central Police Office in Peshawar, a terrorist was killed in an encounter in Kohat.
Five police personnel and 11 civilians were killed in the blasts. Police said the injured, including police officers, were being shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital.
MS DHQ Hospital Tahir Ali Shah said 15 bodies and more than 50 injured people had been brought to the hospital.
An emergency was declared at the DHQ Hospital.
Police said the Kohat-Hangu Road had been closed to all traffic and additional personnel had reached the area near the police lines. Rescue officials said nearby buildings were also damaged and rescue operations were under way at the blast site.
