Sindh Sports Policy 2026 Effective Throughout Sindh: Secy Sports

KARACHI, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 18th Sep, 2026) Sindh Secretary for Sports and Youth Affairs, Munawar Ali Mahesar, stated that following approval by the Sindh Cabinet, the Sindh Sports Policy 2026 has now come into effect throughout the province, providing a comprehensive framework for the development of sports.

He said that the Primary objective of the policy is to promote sports for every individual under the principle of “Sports for All” and to bring new talent forward from the grassroots level.

Speaking at a press conference on Friday, Mahesar said that the Sindh Sports Policy was the vision of Provincial Sports Minister Sardar Muhammad Bakhsh Mahar.

Under the 18th Constitutional Amendment, the Sindh Government has the authority to legislate in the field of sports. The policy emphasizes the construction and rehabilitation of grounds, welfare programs for athletes, and provision of basic sports facilities.

He announced that a Talent Hunt Program will be launched at the district level for children aged 7 to 15, while sports activities will be expanded to the grassroots.

Multi-purpose sports complexes, academies, and sports cities will be established in every division of Sindh, with district-level sports activities also broadened.

Physical education and participation in sports have been made compulsory in educational institutions. Sports science centers, biomechanics labs, and anti-doping systems will be set up to provide modern facilities to athletes.

For the welfare of players, monthly stipends, educational scholarships, and insurance facilities will be provided. Special measures will be taken to promote women’s sports, special athletes, and Pink Games. Athletes representing Sindh and at the Federal level will also be promoted and supported by the Sports Department.

The policy includes Olympic and non-Olympic sports, as well as e-sports, traditional, cultural, and modern games. Mahesar highlighted that traces of sports were found in Sindh’s ancient civilization of Mohenjo-Daro, reflecting the region’s historic sporting traditions. Promoting sports beyond distinctions of color, race, culture, and religion is a government priority.

He added that the Sindh Sports Board is being further strengthened, with reforms and restoration underway. The Chief Minister of Sindh will serve as Chairman of the Board, and its first meeting will soon be convened to decide on employee and administrative matters.

Transparency and merit will be ensured in sports organizations and associations through elections and regulations. Private sports clubs will also be brought under the governance framework, with mandatory registration of all clubs, grounds, and related facilities.

Sports associations receiving government budgets will have their activities and fund usage monitored to ensure transparency. Public-private partnerships will be used to organize sports events in every city of Sindh. Under the Honor Player Policy, talented athletes will be given opportunities in various government departments, with jobs provided under official quotas.

A code of conduct for athletes is being developed, including anti-doping regulations. The government’s target is to further promote sports by 2040. The Japanese government is in contact with Sindh and has shown interest in cooperation for sports development, with plans to launch a sports exchange program in the first phase.

Efforts are also being made to host certain competitions of the South Asian Games in Sindh. Under the policy, provision of basic sports facilities within designated areas will be mandatory.

On this occasion, Sindh Sports Director Asad Ishaq said that the Sindh Sports Policy was the vision of Provincial Sports Minister Sardar Muhammad Bakhsh Mahar. The Sindh Government has approved the policy, and all sports clubs, grounds, and related facilities will be registered.
