“Go abroad; if anyone stops you, we will see to it,” Justice Raja Inam remarked, adding that the case would remain pending.
ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 18th Sep, 2026) The Islamabad High Court expressed strong displeasure with FIA officials during the hearing of a petition filed by citizen Rab Nawaz against being offloaded at the airport and directed the FIA additional director to submit a response in person.
During the hearing before Justice Raja Inam, the court asked under which law citizens were stopped and offloaded at airports and their Names placed on travel restriction lists.
The government lawyer said the FIA had standard operating procedures under which such action was taken.
The court asked what those SOPs were, observing that the law did not permit citizens to be stopped in this manner.
Justice Raja Inam remarked that the matter was sensitive and that the Supreme Court had also issued orders in this regard.
The court said the Establishment Division would be informed against officials who illegally offloaded citizens, and a recommendation could also be made to stop the promotion of the relevant official.
The court also expressed displeasure when the FIA referred to instructions from an embassy.
It made clear that Pakistani law would apply in Pakistan.
Later, the court allowed Rab Nawaz to travel abroad, saying that if he was stopped again, the court would look into the matter. The court also indicated that it would continue hearing the case.
