Field Marshal Asim Munir Is Highly Respected And Honoured By Us: Nasir Hussain Shah

Nisar Khuhro has clarified his statement, while Field Marshal Asim Munir has several historic achievements, Sindh Minister for Local Government says.

KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 18th Sep, 2026) Provincial Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah said that Field Marshal Asim Munir is highly respected and honoured by them. Responding to a question during a news conference, he said that their provincial president, Nisar Khuhro, had already clarified his statement.

Regarding the matter being referred to, he said that their Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Asim Munir, is highly respected and honoured by them.

He said that Pakistan achieved victory in the Battle of Haq before the entire world, attributing it to the nation’s prayers, Allah Almighty’s blessings and the expertise of the Pakistan Army.

He added that Field Marshal Asim Munir had also played a role in efforts to prevent a third world war, and that a Makkah Defence Agreement had been signed among Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Pakistan.

He said the field marshal had many other achievements as well, which was why he was respected by them.

It may be recalled that Pakistan Peoples Party Sindh President Nisar Khuhro had apologised for his statement regarding Field Marshal Asim Munir.

According to reports, a video of Nisar Khuhro addressing an event went viral on social media. He had said that a minister’s speech would generally have received no importance, but it gained attention only because Asim Munir, who is called a field marshal, was dragged into it.

He added that he had responded that if they had not fled out of fear of Zia-ul-Haq or Pervez Musharraf, this field marshal could not stand up to them either.

Later, the PPP leader issued a clarification and withdrew his words.

In his clarification, Nisar Khuhro apologised and said that the statement he had made the previous day regarding the field marshal was completely unintentional in its original context, and that he sincerely regretted it.

He said that he deeply respected the dignity of the Pakistan Army and all its institutions, and was extremely saddened that his words had caused any misunderstanding or hurt anyone’s feelings.

However, he said, his intention was never to insult the institution, and therefore he apologised for his remarks.
