The United Nations’ nomination of Maryam Nawaz for an award is an honour for Punjab’s 140 million people, the provincial information minister said.
LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 17th Sep, 2026) Punjab Information and Culture Minister Uzma Bukhari, responding to Fawad Chaudhry over the payment of funds by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, said unnecessary propaganda was being spread over the clearing date mentioned on the cheque.
She said normal cheques in Pakistan are cleared the following day, which is standard banking procedure, adding that funds are cleared the day after they are deposited in banks.
Uzma Bukhari said Grok itself had responded to Fawad Chaudhry’s ignorance.
She added that a person who operated helicopters at Rs55 per kilometre, and whose leader spent billions of rupees, would be better off remaining silent.
Meanwhile, Information Minister Uzma Bukhari said the “Apni Chhat Apna Ghar” project was among the world’s five major projects and Pakistan’s largest project.
She said the project had been developed by the Punjab government using its own resources.
She said no other government in Pakistan’s history had received as major an award as the one being given to Maryam Nawaz.
Under the “Apni Chhat Apna Ghar” project, 202,913 houses have been constructed, while 118,088 houses have been completed and 53,233 are under construction.
Uzma Bukhari said providing homes to deserving and homeless people had been Maryam Nawaz’s dream.
She said that, thankfully, Maryam Nawaz had succeeded in providing houses to more than 200,000 people in just two years. Her target is to provide “Apni Chhat” to 500,000 people within five years.
She said that, following the “Suthra Punjab” project, the “Apni Chhat Apna Ghar” project was global recognition of Maryam Nawaz’s good governance.
Maryam Nawaz was bringing honour to Punjab and Pakistan worldwide through her successful projects, while her two-year performance was clear evidence of her achievements.
