The sole purpose was to prevent participation in the funeral of late Ejaz Satti, said the PTI secretary general, adding that public fear has deprived decision-makers of reason and understanding.
LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 17th Sep, 2026) PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja said he and several of his colleagues were released after being held in unlawful detention for four hours.
In a post on X, he said that he, Latasab Satti, Akhlaq Satti and several other colleagues had been released after four hours of unlawful detention. He said the sole purpose was to prevent them from attending the funeral of late Ejaz Satti.
“Public fear has deprived decision-makers of reason and understanding.
Human rights have become meaningless,” he said, expressing gratitude to his friends for their good wishes.
It may be recalled that Salman Akram Raja was arrested earlier today while he was on his way to attend the funeral of PTI local leader Ejaz Satti, who died in police custody.
In this regard, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Minister Shafi Jan termed the arrest of PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja extremely regrettable and condemnable. He asked whether attending funerals had also been banned in Islamabad and Punjab.
He said the incumbent “mandate thieves” had trampled the Constitution, law and basic human values in the country. He added that the Form 47 rulers had forgotten basic human values in their political vendetta, and that the nation would never forget the illegal tactics of these “fake rulers.” He said restricting the basic human and social right to attend a funeral was unacceptable, and that the Federal and Punjab governments would have to answer for their abuses.
