A Rs4.23 billion housing project for government officials will include a VIP gym, a library, a VIP executive lounge and a café, according to senior journalist Hassan Raza.
Under the plan, the apartments would be built on 60 kanals and one marla of government land on Barki Road in Lahore Cantonment. The project would include 24 two-bedroom apartments for government officials.
The apartment building would comprise a basement, a ground floor and six storeys. The proposed cost of the apartment building alone is more than Rs2.0536 billion.
The Rs4.23 billion housing project would also include a VIP gym, library, VIP executive lounge and café.
The project also includes a separate convention hall, with an estimated cost of Rs547.2 million. Surface parking for 164 cars and 47 motorcycles has also been proposed. Under the plan, Rs145.1 million would be allocated for generators, more than Rs55.4 million for a solar system and more than Rs335.8 million for external works.
More than Rs152.1 million has been proposed for furniture, while Rs10 million has been earmarked for gym equipment. The Planning and Development Department’s technical wing has raised questions about the project’s high cost, the need for imported construction materials and the cost of high-standard, expensive facilities.
