Maryam Nawaz Paid Government Plane Expenses From Her Own Pocket, Says Rana Sanaullah

The prime minister’s adviser said those in the media afflicted with hatred and sickness will not stop. Even if the expenses are not collected, propaganda continues; now the money has been deposited and propaganda is going on again.

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 17th Sep, 2026) Prime Minister’s Adviser Rana Sanaullah said Maryam Nawaz had paid the expenses for using a government aircraft from her own pocket, adding that those suffering from malice and an unhealthy obsession in the media would not stop.

During Sama tv’s programme, anchor Nadeem Malik asked why Maryam Nawaz had travelled to London on a government aircraft for her daughter’s graduation ceremony, describing it as one of the unnecessary things being done.

Rana Sanaullah replied that she had deposited the full amount incurred from her personal funds.

Nadeem Malik asked whether, after being lauded in the media for 10 days, the receipts have been issued today.

Rana Sanaullah responded that those driven by malice and an unhealthy obsession in the media would not stop. When asked who had given her the right to travel to London on a government aircraft, he said the law and rules permitted it.

He said there would have been propaganda if the aircraft expenses had not been deposited, and there was now propaganda because the money had been paid.

He reiterated that the law and rules allowed the use of such aircraft.

It may be recalled that Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz paid the amount for using a government aircraft for her visit to London.

However, a dispute has emerged over the bank challan receipt, as its collection stamp bears the date 18 September. Geo news shared an image of a National Bank receipt obtained through its sources, showing 18 September as the date of receipt and 17 September as the date of payment.

According to the National Bank cash transfer slip, the amount was paid from an account at the Bank of Punjab.

The report said Maryam Nawaz paid Rs27,194,004 to the Punjab government. The Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD) had formally written to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif regarding payment of the dues.

According to the letter, the chief minister used the Punjab government aircraft for a personal foreign trip from 5 to 9 September 2026.

Bills for the aircraft’s expenses were received from Jetstream International and Pakistan State Oil (PSO). Neither the Punjab government nor the Punjab chief minister’s spokesperson has yet issued an explanation regarding the receipt shared on Geo News.
