ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 17th Sep, 2026) Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held an important telephone conversation with Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir during his visit to Beijing.
They held detailed discussions on the latest regional situation and matters of mutual interest.
According to details released by the Iranian media and government, the Primary purpose of the contact was to advance consultations on restoring peace and security in the middle East and the region, as Iran has initiated formal talks with all its neighboring countries to end ongoing tensions and establish lasting peace.
During the meeting, he stated that Tehran seeks to defend the inalienable rights and national interests of its people while promoting friendly, peaceful and strong relations with all neighboring countries.
He said diplomatic channels and negotiations were the only solution for restoring lasting peace and stability in the region.
Meanwhile, China expressed concern over the deteriorating situation in the region and urged the United States and Iran to immediately avoid all further escalation and return to a meaningful negotiating process.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said Beijing absolutely did not want the crisis to escalate further or its effects to spread to Yemen and the Red Sea, thereby affecting global security.
He called on the United States and Iran to restore the negotiating framework without delay on the basis of the consensus reached under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding.
The ongoing intense military and political conflict between Washington and Tehran is in the interest of neither the region nor any party in the world; therefore, it is extremely important to begin dialogue on all outstanding issues with sincerity and seriousness.
