The United States has installed weapons in space above Earth, the US Air Force secretary said.
WASHINGTON, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 16th Sep, 2026) The US military has confirmed that it has installed weapons in space. Speaking at the Air, Space and Cyber Conference in Maryland, the US Air Force secretary said the United States had deployed weapons in space above Earth.
However, the secretary did not tell conference participants how many weapons had been installed or what type they were.
The secretary said deploying weapons was necessary to maintain US dominance both on Earth and in space.
US President Donald Trump announced the “Golden Dome” missile defense system last year, which will include a network of space-based sensors and interceptors. President Trump said the system would be capable of intercepting missiles fired from the other side of the world.
The Pentagon says a new system is needed to intercept intercontinental ballistic missiles fired by Russia and China.
