Every Pakistani is deeply grieved and distressed by the attempt to target the holiest of lands, Makkah, and the pain and anger in the hearts of the Pakistani nation over this vile and unforgivable act cannot be expressed in words, the Prime Minister’s Office said in its statement.
ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 16th Sep, 2026) The Government of Pakistan has strongly condemned, in the strongest terms, the recent attempted drone attack on the holy site in Makkah and expressed complete solidarity with Saudi Arabia.
In a statement issued by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, he said every Pakistani was deeply saddened, grieved and distressed by the attempt to target Makkah, the holiest of lands.
He said the pain and anger in the hearts of the Pakistani nation over this vile and unforgivable act could not be expressed in words.
He paid rich tribute to the high professional capabilities, courage and vigilance of the Saudi armed forces for foiling the attack through an emergency response.
He said the Royal Saudi Armed Forces had acted with courage and speed to stop the operation and defend the holy site, which was a matter of pride and highly commendable. He appealed to all relevant parties to exercise utmost restraint and immediately step back to prevent further escalation of tensions in the region, which had already suffered heavy losses due to prolonged conflicts and wars.
The Prime Minister strongly emphasized that dialogue and diplomacy were the only sustainable means of establishing lasting peace.
He said Pakistan stood shoulder to shoulder with its brotherly country, Saudi Arabia, at all times to defend its security, sovereignty and territorial integrity. He further said the protection and safeguarding of the Two Holy Mosques was not merely a political or diplomatic priority, but a fundamental part of every Pakistani’s faith and a sacred duty held very close to the heart of every citizen.
