PESHAWAR, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 16th Sep, 2026) The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Wednesday dismissed a petition filed by the Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa challenging provincial legislation concerning the chairmanship of the board of Governors of Edwardes College.
A two-member bench comprising Justice Waqar Ahmad and Justice Farah Jamshed heard the petition and upheld the legislation enacted by the provincial government.
The court subsequently rejected the governor’s petition, which had challenged the provincial law relating to the composition and chairmanship of the college’s Board of Governors.
The petition contended that under a 1974 law notification, the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was required to serve as chairman of the Board of Governors of Edwardes College.
With the dismissal of the petition, the court maintained the validity of the provincial legislation challenged by the governor.
