Six hundred containers are currently in the city, with a target of 1,000, while piles of soil will also be placed inside and outside them, a private TV report claimed.
ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 16th Sep, 2026) The police and administration in the Federal capital are making preparations for Jamaat-e-Islami’s long march on 20th September and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s long march on 27th September.
According to a private tv channel, initial preparations have been completed, and 600 containers are currently present in the city, while the target has been set at 1,000 containers.
Containers have been delivered around Islamabad’s entry and exit points, while entry to the Red Zone from D-Chowk has been completely sealed.
Piles of soil will also be placed inside and outside the containers.
More than 3,000 police personnel will be deployed on duty, while Rangers and the Anti-Riot Force will also be deployed.
The report said personnel from other cities would be called after 20th September.
The daily rent for 40-foot containers is Rs20,000. Security measures taken to prevent the PTI long march on 26th November, 2025, cost Rs170 million, and the same budget has been allocated this time as well.
