China does not want tensions in the region to escalate further and spread to Yemen and the Red Sea, Wang Yi said.
BEIJING, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 16th Sep, 2026) Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived in China for talks, where he met his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi. During the meeting, China urged the United States and Iran to avoid further escalation and return to negotiations.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that China did not want tensions in the region to escalate further and spread to Yemen and the Red Sea.
He called on the United States and Iran to hold meaningful negotiations on outstanding issues and restore the negotiating framework based on the consensus reached under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding. He said the ongoing dispute between Washington and Tehran was in neither side’s interest.
