How Will Govt Pay Dealers For Cheap Petrol? Dealers Refuse To Supply Fuel

Relief should be provided to the public directly and conveniently, while dealers’ capital has already been affected by inflation and implementing the existing mechanism would be difficult, PPDA Vice Chairman Anwar Kamal said.

KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 16th Sep, 2026) The Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association (PPDA) has expressed reservations about the mechanism of the relief scheme and refused to supply petrol.

Speaking at a press conference in Karachi, PPDA Vice Chairman Anwar Kamal said dealers were not consulted while preparing the relief scheme and that implementing the existing mechanism would be difficult.

He said relief should be provided to the public directly and conveniently, adding that dealers’ capital had already been affected by inflation, while billions of rupees in dues owed by oil marketing companies were also pending.

Anwar Kamal said it was not feasible to place the financial burden of the relief scheme on dealers.

He said dealers were demanding an increase in their margins and would not supply petrol under the government’s current relief scheme.

The PPDA vice chairman asked how the government would pay dealers for the cheap petrol, saying they had been contacting the government for three days but had yet to receive a response.
