QUETTA, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 16th Sep, 2026) Commissioner Quetta Division Zeeshan Lashari on Wednesday chaired a review meeting regarding the repatriation of foreign nationals and Afghan refugees, ongoing operations, and progress.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Quetta Mir Allah Badini, Deputy Commissioner Quetta West Munir Ahmed Durrani, Assistant Commissioner (Revenue) Quetta Division Syed Kaleemullah, and officers from the Special Branch, Police, FIA, NADRA, the Home Department, UN agencies dealing with Afghan refugees, and other relevant departments.
A detailed review was conducted regarding the operations undertaken so far for the repatriation of Afghan refugees, administrative measures, progress made, challenges faced, and the future course of action.
During the briefing, it was stated that approximately 800,000 Afghan refugees have been repatriated to Afghanistan from across the province to date; specifically, over 350,000 Afghan refugees from Quetta have returned to Afghanistan either voluntarily or as a result of administrative actions.
The briefing highlighted that joint operations involving the district administration, police, FC, and other relevant agencies are underway to ensure the effectiveness of the repatriation process.
Currently, approximately 23,000 Afghan refugees remain in Quetta, and relevant agencies are taking steps to facilitate their repatriation.
The meeting also reviewed various administrative and operational challenges encountered during the repatriation process of Afghan refugees; relevant officials were directed to enhance inter-agency coordination to ensure the process proceeds in accordance with established rules and regulations.
It was further decided that formal instructions would be sought from the Home Department regarding action against Afghan refugees who return to Pakistan after repatriation or whose re-entry has been reported, after which a future course of action would be adopted in line with the law and government policy.
Quetta Division Commissioner Zeeshan Lashari directed the concerned officials to ensure effective coordination among all relevant agencies during the repatriation process and to carry out operations in accordance with government directives and policy.
