Commissioner Orders Effective Monitoring Of Suthra Punjab Cleanliness Operations


BAHAWALPUR, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 16th Sep, 2026) Under the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, practical measures are being taken across the province to improve and streamline the cleanliness system under the “Suthra Punjab” programme. In this connection, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of Commissioner Bahawalpur Division Irfan Ali Kathia to review the implementation of the “Suthra Punjab” programme and cleanliness arrangements across the division. Deputy Commissioner Bahawalpur Syed Hasan Raza and all Assistant Commissioners attended the meeting, while Deputy Commissioner Rahim Yar Khan Zaheer Anwar Jappa and Deputy Commissioner Bahawalnagar Syed Muhammad Abbas Shah participated through video link. The meeting reviewed progress on cleanliness operations, field monitoring, the sanitation situation in urban and rural areas, and measures for resolving citizens’ complaints.

Commissioner Irfan Ali Kathia directed all Assistant Commissioners to regularly monitor cleanliness activities being carried out under the “Suthra Punjab” programme in their respective areas and ensure effective supervision of sanitation operations.

He said field presence and practical measures should be ensured to further improve cleanliness standards in both urban and rural areas. The commissioner said negligence or laxity in implementation of the “Suthra Punjab” programme would not be tolerated and that the prescribed targets must be achieved under all circumstances.

He directed officials to monitor the performance of sanitation staff on a daily basis, make special cleanliness arrangements at important locations, major roads and streets, and ensure timely collection, transportation and proper disposal of waste. He further directed that all cleanliness-related complaints received through the online portal should be resolved promptly, with no unnecessary delay in addressing citizens’ grievances. He called for more effective field monitoring to improve cleanliness at public places and stressed the need for strong coordination and cooperation among all relevant departments involved in sanitation operations. Commissioner said providing citizens with a clean, hygienic, and aesthetically improved environment under the “Suthra Punjab” programme was a top priority. He directed all concerned officers to perform their responsibilities effectively and continue regular monitoring and practical measures to ensure sustained improvement in cleanliness standards.
