Up To 50mm Rain Recorded In Islamabad As CDA Teams Tackle Waterlogging

ISLAMABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 15th Sep, 2026) Up to 50 millimetres of rain was recorded in different parts of Islamabad on Tuesday, prompting the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to deploy sanitation teams to clear drainage grates and remove accumulated rainwater from roads.

The teams remained in the field during and after the downpour, clearing mud, leaves, garbage and other debris from roadside grates to prevent blockages and facilitate the drainage of rainwater.

CDA officials said sanitation staff monitored major roads and other vulnerable locations and carried out dewatering operations wherever water accumulated.

The field teams also worked to keep major roads accessible to commuters as the rain affected traffic movement at various points in the capital.

Assistant commissioners and the additional deputy commissioner (general) also monitored the situation in different areas and coordinated with the relevant departments.

The CDA said drainage and cleaning operations would continue after the rainfall, particularly at locations prone to water accumulation.

The recorded rainfall highlighted the importance of keeping the capital’s drainage network clear as heavy downpours can quickly lead to waterlogging and affect movement on major roads.
