The Azad Kashmir Election Commission has formally issued the presidential election schedule and requested that the Legislative Assembly meet on September 24.
MUZAFFARABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 15th Sep, 2026) Polling for the election of the President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir will be held on September 24, the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Election Commission announced while issuing the official schedule.
During a press conference, Chief Election Commissioner Justice (retired) Ghulam Mustafa Mughal said presidential candidates could submit their nomination papers at the office of the Chief Election Commissioner/Returning Officer from 10 a.m.
to noon on September 19.
Scrutiny of the nomination papers will also be conducted on September 19 immediately after their submission, while candidates may withdraw their nomination papers by 11:30 a.m.
on September 23. The Chief Election Commissioner of Azad Kashmir will perform the duties of Returning Officer for the presidential election. Justice (retired) Ghulam Mustafa Mughal said polling would be held from 10 a.m.
to 1 p.m. on September 24 in the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Hall, after which vote counting would begin immediately. He requested the Acting President of Azad Kashmir to summon a session of the Legislative Assembly on September 24 for the conduct of the presidential election.
