SUKKUR, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 15th Sep, 2026) Under the vision of “Safe Sukkur, Strong Pakistan” and on the special directives of Director Civil Defence Sindh, Riaz Hussain Laghari, and Deputy Commissioner & Controller Civil Defence Sukkur, Nadir Shahzad Khan, awareness programs regarding Fire Safety Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) have been formally launched in various commercial centers of Sukkur on Tuesday.
In this connection, an awareness session was held, where senior officials briefed traders and shopkeepers in detail about fire safety SOPs.
On the occasion, Dr. Saeed Awan said that fire prevention is not only the responsibility of concerned departments but a collective duty of every citizen, trader and business entity.
He stressed that to protect precious lives and property from fire incidents in commercial centers, it is essential to strictly follow fire safety principles, keep emergency exits clear, avoid unsafe electrical connections, and ensure availability and timely use of fire extinguishers.
He said the objective of Civil Defence Sukkur is not only to carry out relief operations after accidents, but also to promote precautionary measures, awareness, and safety consciousness before such incidents occur. For this purpose, awareness programs regarding fire safety SOPs will continue in commercial centers, markets, educational institutions, hospitals and other public places of Sukkur.
On the occasion, office bearers Riaz Hussain Abro, Sabir Bandhani, Rajesh Kumar, Imran Rid, Shoaib Kandhar, Rizwan and Haider Azhar Siddiqui thanked Civil Defence Sukkur for continuously providing awareness to traders regarding fire safety SOPs and expressed their resolve to further strengthen implementation of safety principles for the protection of citizens and traders in the market.
Officials of Civil Defence Sukkur on the occasion made it clear that cooperation between the trader community and Civil Defence will be further strengthened for safe markets, safe citizens,and a safe Sukkur.
