Profitable state-owned enterprises earned Rs423.3 billion, with the figures presented at a Cabinet Committee meeting chaired by the Finance Minister.
ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 14th Sep, 2026) State-owned enterprises that operated at a loss recorded a combined deficit of Rs342.8 billion from July to December 2025, while profitable state-owned enterprises earned Rs423.3 billion.
A meeting of the Cabinet Committee on State-Owned Enterprises was held under the chairmanship of the Finance Minister to review the performance of SOEs.
According to the Finance Ministry, the government provided Rs804 billion in support to SOEs, while state-owned enterprises paid Rs839 billion to the government during the period.
According to an official statement, state-owned enterprises collectively generated a net financial profit of Rs35 billion.
The committee directed that financial discipline in state-owned enterprises be improved and reliance on public resources reduced. It also ordered accelerated reforms in entities facing continued losses.
The meeting also reviewed operational weaknesses in the power and infrastructure sectors, circular debt and financial risks.
The Finance Ministry said the committee appreciated progress in the digital monitoring system for SOE performance. The meeting also approved the appointment of independent directors to the board of the Printing Corporation of Pakistan.
