“I am not harassing anyone; I am being harassed. I will move forward only after our workers are released,” the KP chief minister said.
LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 14th Sep, 2026) The convoy of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi reached Regal Chowk on Mall Road, where he climbed onto a police van. Sohail Afridi said, “I am not harassing anyone; I am being harassed.
I will move forward only after our workers are released.” The chief minister refused to get off the van, after which police personnel drove away with the van, carrying the chief minister. Subsequently, a video began circulating on PTI-linked social media accounts in which a young man claiming to be Sohail Afridi’s guard could be heard shouting that Punjab Police had abducted Chief Minister Sohail Afridi.
The video quickly began appearing across Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s social media accounts in Pakistan and abroad. Meanwhile, Punjab Police has launched an inquiry into why the driver drove the vehicle if Sohail Afridi had entered and sat in the police van forcibly.
On the other hand, Lahore Police sources said Sohail Afridi got off the police vehicle on Mall Road and left with his convoy, which was following behind. They said Lahore Police vehicles were present for the security of the KP chief minister, and that the vehicle being described as a “prison van” can be seen in a video released by Lahore Police itself to be a police van used for routine patrols.
