ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 14th Sep, 2026) The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) has approved the Prime Minister’s Fuel Relief Package, providing weekly fuel relief of Rs500 to motorcycle and rickshaw users, while vehicles up to 800cc will receive Rs1,000 in fuel relief every 10 days.
The meeting of the Cabinet’s Economic Coordination Committee was chaired by Federal Minister for Finance Muhammad Aurangzeb.
According to a statement, the ECC approved a technical supplementary grant of Rs75 billion for the fuel relief scheme.
The scheme will be available only to non-commercial users, and each user or owner will be eligible for fuel relief for only one vehicle.
The ECC decided to introduce a Fuel Pass system to ensure transparent disbursement of the relief.
The Ministry of IT will develop and manage the digital Fuel Pass system.
The ECC also approved a framework for restructuring the ownership and administrative control of Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC), as well as the recommendations of a committee headed by the Minister for Privatisation regarding PNSC’s restructuring and privatisation.
The committee approved a draft upgrade agreement for the modernisation of existing oil refineries.
A period of five years was set for completion of the refinery upgrade projects.
The ECC deferred consideration of the commercial import of used vehicles. It also approved the export of an additional 200,000 metric tonnes of sugar, subject to safeguards aimed at maintaining price stability in the domestic market.
The committee approved Rs3 billion for the purchase of 15 bulletproof vehicles for the SCO summit.
