The tragic incident occurred at a house in Harbanspura, where the affected family had eaten leftover curry.
LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 13th Sep, 2026) Two children from the same family died after allegedly eating poisonous food in Lahore’s Harbanspura area, while their parents were shifted to hospital in critical condition.
Police registered a case and launched legal and investigative proceedings from various angles.
According to initial details from police and Rescue officials, the tragic incident occurred at a house in Harbanspura, where the affected family ate leftover aloo gobi curry.
Shortly after eating the curry, the husband, wife and their two children suddenly fell ill and began suffering severe vomiting and bouts of unconsciousness. When their condition deteriorated, local residents immediately informed Rescue 1122, whose personnel reached the scene and shifted all the victims to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment.
It was reported that despite the medical staff’s best efforts, both children died during treatment.
The deceased children were identified as Qadeer and Asma. Their father and mother are still said to be in extremely critical condition and are receiving treatment in the ICU.
Soon after receiving information about the incident, a heavy police contingent, the Crime Scene Unit and teams from the Punjab Forensic Science Agency reached the scene.
Forensic experts seized food samples from the kitchen and utensils, leftover aloo gobi curry and other important evidence and sent them for laboratory analysis.
In view of the seriousness of the situation, a team from the Punjab Food Authority was also called in to conduct a detailed assessment of the effects of poisonous substances. According to an initial investigative view issued by forensic experts, it is suspected that a poisonous insect or lizard may have fallen into the cooked curry during the night, making the food highly toxic.
The actual and final causes of the incident will become clear only after the forensic report and complete chemical examination findings are released.
