A PML-N leader questioned when party workers and leaders will be allowed to speak openly, saying they are repeatedly told to remain silent whether the party is facing difficulties or in power, as “they will become angry.”
LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 13th Sep, 2026) Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senior leader Mian Javed Latif has strongly criticized the debate over the creation of new provinces in the country and his party’s internal structure, raising several questions.
According to reports, speaking at a PML-N consultative meeting about the debate over new provinces, Mian Javed Latif said in unequivocal terms that such sensitive and important administrative matters could not be raised casually.
He said it was not possible to dream of creating new provinces one night and establish them the next, adding that people with no connection whatsoever to ground realities were being made to debate the issue.
Addressing Prime Minister’s Adviser Rana Sanaullah, he said Sanaullah should openly explain how much authority the government or the prime minister himself possessed, because he was well aware of this reality and everyone else knew it too.
He said workers and leaders were always kept hostage to expediency: when the party was in trouble, they were told that the party was facing difficulties and that they should remain silent; and when the party was in power, they were told to stay quiet because “they will become angry.” He then asked when the opportunity to speak the truth within the party would actually come, and when it should be used.
