The Iranian commercial vessel became stranded near Qeshm Island after being hit by a projectile, according to the UK Maritime Trade Operations.
DUBAI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 13th Sep, 2026) An Iranian commercial vessel met with an accident near the Strait of Hormuz in the Persian Gulf, leaving one person dead and three others injured.
According to Iranian state television, the vessel became stranded near Qeshm Island, the largest island in the Persian Gulf and an important geographical location near the Strait of Hormuz.
Meanwhile, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported that a vessel passing through the Strait of Hormuz had been struck by a projectile, but provided no further details about the incident.
It remains unclear whether the attack reported by UKMTO involved the same Iranian commercial vessel or whether the two incidents were separate.
The US military has not immediately issued a statement on the incident.
The US military has previously targeted Iranian-flagged vessels, while reports indicate that a blockade of Iranian ports is continuing. The US military said on Saturday that its forces had diverted approximately 100 commercial vessels over the past 60 days.
