Miriam, who is from Colombia’s Quindio region, says her rumour-selling business is growing rapidly.
She claims that she has bought two houses through the business. She simply visits a local tea shop, waits there and continues writing in her notebook.
She charges between 5,000 and 10,000 Colombian pesos for rumours, depending on their content.
In an interview, she said she sits outside her home in places where information reaches her.
“I love gossip and I am a professional rumour maker,” she said, adding that her notebook not only helps her tell authentic stories but also serves as evidence.
“I am talking to you here, but my ears are listening very carefully to what people are saying,” she said.
Her most expensive rumour was sold for 700,000 pesos.
In return, she helped conceal a man’s wife’s infidelity.
Despite this success, Miriam said she also faces competition in her area, as people are trying to copy her business model. She claims that she never says anything without evidence. She is known in the region as the “Queen of Gossip.”
