In his reaction to the rising prices of petroleum products on X, he said that the continuous increase in petrol prices was not merely due to global conditions, but that government incompetence was also a major cause.
When tax collection targets are not met, the entire burden is placed on the poor, and heavy taxes are imposed on petrol to raise funds. Inflation has made it difficult for ordinary people to earn even two meals a day.
He urged the authorities to create ease for the public, saying they were already facing hardship.
It may be recalled that OGRA also significantly increased the prices of petroleum products the previous day.
According to a notification issued by the Petroleum Division, the price of petrol was increased by Rs5.02 per litre, while the price of diesel rose by Rs5.28 per litre. The new price of petrol was set at Rs375.82 per litre and diesel at Rs403.32 per litre.
