Licences have been issued to hunt 118 wild animals, including markhor, across various districts of Gilgit-Baltistan, the Wildlife Department says.
GILGIT, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 11th Sep, 2026) The auction of the trophy hunting programme in Gilgit-Baltistan has set a bid of $356,000 for hunting an Astor markhor, according to the Wildlife Department.
Domestic and foreign outfitters and representatives participated in the auction.
Besides the Astor markhor, bids of $301,000 were placed for Skuwar, Manawar and Burmis, while successful bids of $294,000 were made for Sain Jaglot.
The Wildlife Department said licences have been issued to hunt 118 wild animals, including markhor, in various districts. The programme is expected to generate more than Rs700 million in revenue this year. Eighty percent of the licence income is deposited with the local community, while 20 percent goes to the government treasury.
