Pakistani Woman Sentenced To More Than 6 Years For $64 Million US Government Fraud

NEW YORK, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 11th Sep, 2026) A US court has sentenced Pakistani-origin woman Zakia Khan to 6 years and 4 months in prison for defrauding the US government of tens of millions of Dollars.

A female judge at the Federal court in New York announced the verdict, sentencing Zakia Khan for fraud and deception against the US government.

The court also ordered her to pay $56 million and ruled that assets worth $5 million would be forfeited.

According to prosecutors, Zakia Khan established a daycare center for senior citizens and used it as a cover to allegedly obtain a large sum from the US government through fraud.

The fraud caused approximately $64 million in losses to the US government.

Zakia Khan was arrested in the case in 2024. During the trial, she also pleaded guilty.

The case was decided at a federal court in New York yesterday, with the court imposing prison and financial penalties after taking the nature of the crime and the financial loss into account.

Under the court’s decision, Zakia Khan must pay $56 million to the US government, while assets worth $5 million will also be forfeited.
