ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 11th Sep, 2026) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Minister Shafi Jan said his statement about Uzma Bukhari had been misinterpreted. Speaking on Geo news, he asked whether Uzma Bukhari had apologized for calling Pashtuns “wild.” He said, “The kind of wild statements she is making, we also have people who can go there and make wild statements.
If someone is interpreting this incorrectly, that is a question of their mentality.” He added that if Uzma Bukhari apologized, he would also refrain from issuing a statement.
Commenting on Maryam Nawaz’s statement, he asked whether it was correct to give Modi a clean chit while holding the provinces responsible.
He said Maryam Nawaz’s remarks about the smaller provinces amounted to an attempt to break up the country and alleged that “this woman poses a threat to the country.”
Meanwhile, Haba Fouad, the wife of former minister Fawad Chaudhry, said the language used by Shafi Jan about Uzma Bukhari was highly shameful.
In a post on X, she said his remarks were strongly condemnable and shameful.
“Political differences are a separate matter, but humiliating a woman is unacceptable under any circumstances,” she said.
Addressing Shafi Jan, she asked whether the mothers, sisters and daughters in his own home were also addressed in the same language. She said people should disagree and criticize but must not forget civility and limits.

She demanded that Shafi Jan explain his words and apologize for the inappropriate language, saying that respect for women was essential.
It may be recalled that KP Information Minister Shafi Jan had said in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly that Maryam Nawaz would have to apologize for her statement.
He said she had called Pashtuns wild and added, “If you like wild people so much, we can send them to you.” He said they would continue demanding an apology from Maryam Nawaz.
He said Maryam Nawaz had added insult to the nation’s wounds by absolving Modi of responsibility.
He said the statement that Punjab faced a threat not from the neighboring country but from neighboring provinces amounted not only to giving India’s enemy a clean chit but also to openly contradicting the Pakistan Army’s four-year position and the national narrative against Indian aggression.
He asked who was responsible for Modi’s aggression and conspiracies against Pakistan if there was no threat from the enemy.
He said targeting one’s own provinces was the height of political prejudice. He added that from Dawn Leaks and Memogate to today’s statement, the nation remembered everything.
He said Indian media had been continuously running propaganda about Maryam Nawaz’s statement for a week.
He alleged that every tactic was being used against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf workers and political opponents in Punjab, but not a single word was being spoken against Modi. He asked what else could be called political prejudice if the enemy was ignored while one’s own provinces were declared a threat.
Regarding Rana Sanaullah, he said that the former minister saw only May 9 in every political struggle and was saying that another May 9 was being prepared.
“A person thinks according to his mentality; their mindset is that of Model Town and Muridke,” he said. He added that allegations had previously surfaced regarding Rana Sanaullah’s electoral links with banned organizations and their workers, while he was now speaking on the basis of evidence provided by the same institutions.
“First account for your own past, then point fingers at others,” he said.
