TEHRAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 11th Sep, 2026) Iran has announced that it will participate in the Gulf countries’ foreign ministers’ meeting to be held in Muscat on Monday.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baqai said the meeting is an important opportunity to strengthen peace and stability in the region by promoting trust and cooperation among regional countries, while staying away from the destructive interventions of forces from outside the region.
He said the meeting would also discuss the outcome of talks between Iran and Oman on identifying safe maritime routes for commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran says it has reached an understanding with Oman on a map of the maritime routes passing through the Strait of Hormuz, and negotiations on a joint statement are ongoing.
According to Iran, US intervention and the naval blockade have delayed finalizing the joint statement.
