Former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry and Punjab Information Minister Azma Zahid Bukhari exchanged barbs over the expenses of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s London visit.
LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 10th Sep, 2026) The controversy over expenses incurred during Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s London visit to attend her daughter’s graduation ceremony, including the use of an official aircraft, has intensified.
Former Federal minister Fawad Chaudhry and Punjab Information Minister Azma Zahid Bukhari traded barbs over the issue on social media.
Taking to social media platform X, former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry criticised Maryam Nawaz’s visit to Britain, writing, “The cost of Maryam Nawaz’s daughter’s graduation in London was paid by this ‘rich’ nation.” Responding to Fawad Chaudhry’s criticism, Punjab Information Minister Azma Zahid Bukhari strongly denied all the allegations and claimed, “Absolutely wrong! The Punjab chief minister paid all expenses for the aircraft used for her London visit from her own pocket.”
Fawad Chaudhry again sarcastically asked Bukhari to provide receipts for the payment.
Addressing the provincial information minister, he wrote, “Yes, respected Minister! What should we do with the receipts? When will you provide the receipts for the London flight?”
