Armed suspects easily snatched a bag filled with cash from a citizen and fled; a case has been registered.
According to media reports, armed suspects escaped after snatching more than Rs35 million from a citizen in the city. The robbery took place near the Metropole. When the citizen reached Metropole, six armed suspects riding three motorcycles stopped his vehicle.
The citizen was accompanied by his driver, Riyaz, and employee, Kashif. The armed suspects forced open the vehicle’s trunk at gunpoint, took out the bag filled with money and fled. Artillery Maidan Police registered a robbery case on the complaint of Muhammad Akram, a manager of a private company.
The money was collected from Sukkur and kept at an office in Gulshan-e-Iqbal. Yesterday, the amount was being transferred from Gulshan-e-Iqbal to another office in New Chali.
Meanwhile, in seven separate robbery and theft incidents in Circle Burewala, Punjab, citizens were deprived of valuable mobile phones, motorcycles, cash and other valuables.
Police registered cases in the incidents and launched investigations. In the jurisdiction of Sadar Burewala Police Station, three armed robbers snatched a mobile phone and Rs60,000 in cash from Nasir Hussain and fled.
In four theft incidents within the jurisdiction of Sheikh Fazil Police Station, unidentified thieves stole motorcycles belonging to Muhammad Hussain and Haq Nawaz, while they also stole water pumps belonging to Liaquat Ali and Muhammad Naveed.
Similarly, a motorcycle belonging to Muhammad Atif was stolen from the court in the jurisdiction of Model Town Police Station. In another incident, fraudsters stole Rs350,000 in cash belonging to Muhammad Mushtaq and fled.
The repeated incidents of theft and robbery have caused concern among citizens, who have demanded that senior police officials immediately arrest the suspects and recover the stolen items.
