No court will allow armed groups to march on Islamabad; protests may be permitted if three basic conditions are met, the prime minister’s adviser on political affairs says.
Speaking on GTV news, he said the government would comply if a court ordered that PTI be allowed to hold a protest and provided security. However, he said he was certain that no court could issue such an order.
He said the group wanted to march on Islamabad in an armed formation, adding that if Islamabad were attacked, it would become a subject of ridicule across the world and the lives and property of everyone, including foreign diplomats, would be at risk.
He said neither the Constitution nor the law allowed such an armed group to attack the capital, and no court would permit it; such activities should be prevented.
However, he asked who would trust a party with May 9 to its credit. He said the reports by the agencies were being further verified and that PTI was going to repeat a mistake bigger than May 9 on Sept 27, something it itself did not realize. He said it would be better for PTI to review its conduct.
