Jointly organized by the Embassy of Pakistan in Beijing and the China International Cultural Communication Center (CICCC), the landmark concert transformed one of China’s most celebrated historical sites into a stage for showcasing the enduring friendship and cultural affinity between the two nations.

Artists from both countries, including Pride of Performance Award-winning Pakistani artist and one of the country’s foremost Kathak exponents Nighat Chaudhry; renowned Chinese dance artist Zhang Jingdi; acclaimed contemporary Qawwali artist Zain Zohaib; renowned Chinese coloratura soprano Chang Sisi; and new-generation vocalist Xu Ziyao, captivated audiences with a spectacular fusion of music and dance.

Welcoming guests, Pakistan’s Ambassador to China Khalil Hashmi said the Great Wall provided a befitting setting to commemorate the milestone year in Pakistan-China relations, noting that the historic landmark itself carries a special connection with the friendship between the two peoples.

The Ambassador highlighted the restoration in 1989 of the section of the Great Wall between Watchtowers 6 and 7 at Badaling with support from the Government of Pakistan, describing it as an enduring expression of Pakistan’s respect for Chinese civilization and the close bonds between the two countries.Music gives voice to emotion, while dance gives it form and movement,” Ambassador Hashmi observed, underscoring the power of the arts to transform cultural heritage from something remembered into something experienced.

Ambassador Hashmi expressed appreciation to Chairman Long Yuxiang and the China International Cultural Communication Center for partnering with the Embassy to stage the concert, as well as to the People’s Government of Yanqing District for facilitating the event.

The evening brought together a large number of Chinese people from all walks of life, members of the Pakistani community and former Pakistani Foreign Secretaries and Ambassadors, including distinguished diplomats who had served in Beijing and contributed to strengthening the depth and resilience of Pakistan-China relations.
