FAISALABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 7th Sep, 2026) Australian High Commissioner to Pakistan Mr. Timothy Kane delved into the rich historical and cultural legacy of Faisalabad during a visit to Lyallpur Museum.
He took keen interest in the region’s centuries-old heritage, traditions, artifacts and textile culture and described museums as powerful bridges for fostering understanding among nations and societies.
Director Lyallpur Museum Maqbool Malik, accompanied by museum officers and staff, warmly received the distinguished guest and presented him with a bouquet. He later facilitated the High Commissioner for a detailed tour of all 10 galleries of the museum besides providing comprehensive briefings about the history, civilization, culture, traditions and historical heritage of Faisalabad and its surrounding areas.
During visit, Timothy Kane showed keen interest in the historical artifacts, artworks, antiquities and other cultural evidence displayed in the galleries.
He was particularly briefed on the distinctive culture and heritage of Sandal Bar, regional traditions, ancient ways of life, the area’s textile heritage and the historical transformation of the city from Lyallpur to Faisalabad.
Speaking on the occasion, the Australian High Commissioner said that museums were not merely centers for preserving historical artifacts but could also serve as cultural bridges between different nations and societies. Such institutions could play an important role in strengthening cultural linkages and promoting mutual understanding among peoples, he added.
Timothy Kane observed that museums in Pakistan and Australia could further expand cooperation through joint exhibitions, exchange of experts and cultural programs. Such initiatives would provide people of both countries with greater opportunities to understand each other’s history, culture and heritage, he added.
The High Commissioner also appreciated the warm hospitality extended by the people of Faisalabad, describing them as courteous, friendly and hospitable.
He praised local culture and traditions of the city and also expressed appreciation for its traditional cuisine.
Later, Director Maqbool Malik presented a commemorative souvenir of Lyallpur Museum to Australian High Commissioner Timothy Kane.
