Dera Ismail Khan, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 6th Sep, 2026) The Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) Dera Ismail Khan has intensified its ongoing cleanliness, plantation and beautification activities across the city to improve the urban environment and provide citizens with clean, green and well-maintained public spaces.
The activities are being carried out on the directions of Tehsil Municipal Officer (TMO) Abdul Rehman, with sanitation and horticulture teams working at different locations under the supervision of relevant field staff.
As part of the plantation campaign initiated by the Dera Development Authority (DDA) to enhance greenery in the city, TMO Abdul Rehman, accompanied by Garden Supervisor Sunni Khan Chishti, inspected various locations identified for plantation.
During the inspection, special attention was given to designated sites along Bannu Road. The TMO reviewed the suitability of the locations and directed the concerned staff to ensure that plants were installed at appropriate sites in a timely manner.
He further directed the horticulture staff to ensure proper watering, protection and regular maintenance of newly planted saplings so that the plantation drive could achieve its desired objectives and contribute to a greener and healthier urban environment.
Meanwhile, the weekly cleanliness campaign continued in different parks of the city, with sanitation and horticulture staff actively engaged in improving the condition of public recreational spaces.
On the second day of the campaign, Garden Supervisor Sunni Khan Chishti supervised cleanliness activities in various parks. The teams removed garbage and unwanted vegetation and carried out necessary cutting and clearing work to improve the overall appearance and cleanliness of the parks.
The TMO directed the concerned staff to maintain cleanliness standards in all parks and ensure that sanitation activities are carried out regularly without interruption.
Earlier, special cleanliness and beautification arrangements were also made in the Cantonment area in connection with September 6.
Under the supervision of Garden Supervisor Abdul Hameed Noor, sanitation staff carried out a special cleaning operation near Midway Hotel.
The teams removed garbage and dirt from the area and trimmed damaged grass and overgrown bushes, significantly improving the appearance and cleanliness of the surroundings.
In another operation, TMA’s encroachment team, headed by Encroachment In-charge Fahad Khan Sadozai, carried out an operation against temporary encroachments from Grid Road to Qurtaba College.
The team removed temporary encroachments established along the roadside and cleared the route to facilitate smooth traffic flow. The encroachment staff also warned the concerned individuals against re-establishing encroachments on government land and public spaces.
TMO Abdul Rehman said that cleanliness, plantation and beautification of Dera Ismail Khan were among the administration’s key priorities and that field teams had been directed to maintain regular operations across the city.
He said plantation activities would be followed by proper maintenance and care of saplings to improve their survival rate, while cleanliness operations in parks and other public places would continue on a regular basis.
The TMO further said that the objective of the ongoing initiatives was not only to improve the visual appearance of the city but also to provide citizens with a healthier, cleaner and more pleasant environment.
He directed municipal staff to remain active in the field, respond promptly to sanitation requirements and ensure that public spaces remained clean and accessible.
The TMA administration reiterated its commitment to continuing cleanliness, horticulture, plantation and beautification activities at different locations in Dera Ismail Khan and sought cooperation from citizens in keeping the city clean, green and free from litter and encroachments.
