Defence Day: Families Of Martyrs Gather At Graveyard, Pay Homage


FAISALABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 6th Sep, 2026) The nation on Sunday paid heartfelt tribute to its brave sons who laid down their lives for the defense of Pakistan, as a solemn Defense Day ceremony at main graveyard (Bara Qabristan) on Narwala Road brought together families of martyrs, cemetery committee office-bearers, civil society representatives and people from different walks of life to honor the heroes of September 1965 war.

In this connection, Anjuman Islamia Faisalabad organized a special ceremony to pay homage to the martyrs resting at the main cemetery of Narwala Road and commemorate their supreme sacrifices for defense of the country.

A large number of representatives of the cemetery committee, families of martyrs, civil society members and people belonging to different schools of thought attended the ceremony.

Addressing the gathering, the speakers said that the entire nation saluted all those courageous sons of Pakistan who had offered ultimate sacrifice for defense of the homeland.

They said that martyrs of the 1965 war continued to live in the hearts of the people while the nation would always remain indebted to those who sacrificed their precious lives to protect soil of the country.

The speakers described the martyrs as pride of the nation and said that September 1965 war was a glorious chapter in Pakistan’s defense history, during which the Pak armed forces gave a befitting response to aggression and wrote immortal stories of courage, determination and resilience while defending the motherland.

They said that Defense Day was not merely an occasion for remembrance but also an opportunity to renew the national commitment to values of courage, unity, patriotism and sacrifice demonstrated by the martyrs and Ghazis.

Standing at the final resting places of the martyrs, the participants pledged that they would never hesitate to make any sacrifice for defense and security of the motherland.

They said that just as their loved ones had devoted their lives to the country during the September 1965 war, they too would remain ready to make every possible sacrifice for Pakistan’s sovereignty and security whenever the nation required it.

The participants said that sacrifices of the martyrs would continue to inspire future generations and serve as a reminder that independence and security of the country had been secured through the courage and devotion of its sons.

Quran Khawani and special prayers for elevation of ranks of the martyrs were also held.

Floral wreaths were also laid at the graves of national heroes as a mark of respect and gratitude for their unparalleled sacrifices.
