ACE Arrests Nine Government Employees, Three Frontmen In Anti-corruption Drive Across Punjab


LAHORE, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 6th Sep, 2026) The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Punjab has intensified its province-wide crackdown against corrupt elements on the directives of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, arresting nine government employees and three frontmen in separate operations here on Sunday.

According to an official handout, the operations were carried out in different districts, resulting in several officials and alleged facilitators being caught red-handed while receiving bribes, while cases were also registered against the accused.

In Bahawalnagar, ACE officials caught Faisal Sheeraz, a clerk at the Assistant Commissioner’s Office, red-handed while allegedly accepting a bribe and registered a case against him. In another operation in the district, Mehram Hussain, a former naib qasid of a Union Council office, was arrested during a trap raid. Meanwhile, in Vehari, Excise Department official Tahir Bhatti was caught receiving a bribe, and in Dera Ghazi Khan, Sajid, a computer operator at Allama Iqbal Teaching Hospital, was arrested in a similar raid.

In Mandi Bahauddin, Mohsin Shah, a naib qasid of the Local Government Department, was arrested in a trap raid and a case was registered against him, while in Jhang, ACE police caught Muhammad Saleem, a reader at a tehsil office, red-handed over alleged bribery.

The crackdown also targeted alleged middlemen facilitating corrupt practices. In Muzaffargarh, ACE teams arrested two alleged frontmen, Muhammad Yasir and Abdullah. In Lahore, Munshi Majid, an alleged frontman of patwari Tariq, was caught red-handed while receiving a bribe, and a case was registered against Munshi Mubin Akhtar, allegedly linked to another patwari, on corruption charges. Additionally, in Chakwal, ACE teams caught Para Force Sergeant Asif Kamal and Naib Qasid Talal Hussain red-handed in a bribery case.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif stated that the time had come for the complete elimination of corruption from government institutions across Punjab. “Every government institution will be cleansed of corruption and corrupt elements,” she said, reiterating her government’s resolve to ensure transparency, accountability and merit in public service.
