Dera Ismail Khan, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 5th Sep, 2026) Assistant Commissioner Dera Ismail Khan Dr Muhammad Hamid Siddiq here on Saturday conducted a surprise inspection of Zafarabad on the directives of Deputy Commissioner Dera Ismail Khan to check prices, quality of essential commodities and compliance with official rate lists.
During the inspection, a shopkeeper was found involved in overcharging and the shop was sealed on the spot, while other violators were issued strict warnings. The Assistant Commissioner directed traders to prominently display official price lists and warned that repeated violations would invite strict legal action.
An anti-encroachment operation was also carried out along Zafarabad Road, during which several temporary and illegal encroachments were removed.
Encroachers were given 24 hours to voluntarily clear the remaining encroachments, failing which a comprehensive operation would be launched to remove them.
The Assistant Commissioner also inspected meat prices and quality and other food items, while illegal cigarettes were confiscated.
Dr Hamid Siddiq said action against profiteering, substandard commodities and encroachments would continue without discrimination to ensure the public’s access to essential goods at notified prices and keep public roads and government land free from encroachments.
